Lou Orth Designs

Lou is a quilt and sewing pattern designer based in Oxfordshire, UK, where she spends her days surrounded by fabric, thread, and far too many ideas (and so little time!) After dabbling in just about every craft imaginable over the years, nothing has captured her heart quite like sewing.

Guided by her mother-in-law on her old Husqvarna machine, Lou began sewing not long after her first daughter was born. Considering she strongly disliked sewing at school, she didn’t have high hopes for this new hobby… However, Lou was quickly hooked on the magic of turning beautiful fabric into something entirely new with her own two hands.

Since then, Lou has gone on to work with many well known names in the quilting world, including Love Patchwork & Quilting magazine, Ruby Star Society, and Aurifil. Today, she loves designing modern designs and carefully constructed patterns that help makers create beautiful projects while having plenty of fun along the way.
