Wood Lily Studio

Cecilia Ruhl is the maker and designer behind Wood Lily Studio, where modern quilting meets joyful creativity. A proud Latina sewist and first-generation Cuban American, she began sewing at age seven on her mother’s turquoise Singer 338—an early spark that grew into a lifelong passion.

After studying Fashion Design at Florida State University and working at Carter’s Baby Clothes in Atlanta, Cecilia shifted her focus to family life and became a teacher, where she discovered a deep love for education. That passion continues to shape her work today. When she rediscovered quilting during the pandemic, it sparked a new creative chapter that quickly evolved into pattern design.

Cecilia’s patterns are known for their clean geometric style, fresh color palettes, and clear, encouraging instruction. With a teacher’s perspective, she designs each pattern to be approachable and empowering for makers of all skill levels. Her work is deeply rooted in her values: inclusivity, compassion, and community. Cecilia is a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community and believes in a world where everyone is valued, supported, and cared for.
